Should this have been a violation?

When you say you contacted yahoo, do you mean you filed an appeal? If not, do so. Your answer isn't a violation, as it does provide the info the asker was looking for, and it will most likely be restored on appeal. You have to be patient if you don't hear back right away; yahoo claims to respond to appeals withing 48 hours, but if the system is backed up, it can sometimes take longer, but they will get back to you either way to let you know the outcome.
