How does a lightening bug/firefly create light?

it carries a hormone in its veins , named luciferin , and when this come in contact of air through some very fine cappillaries it do very fast chemical reactions producing light as a byproduct, and gives us a brilliant view of nature"s beauty. Keep watching such things ! ! ! !
